KNOWLEDGE: At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand and analyse demographic and social problems of contemporary societies, and to depict le links between demographic and social variables and trends in rich and poor countries.

Demographic transition and global trend of populations: population growth, fertility, mortality, nuptiiality, families, migration, in a comparative perspective between rich and poor countries.
Recent trends of the Italian population in the European context. Population ageing, measures, causes and consequences in Italy. Migration.
Recent trends in family behaviours. The youth and the transition to adulthood, fertility, marriage and cohabitation. Fertility and gender policies. Subjective well-being and familiy changes.
